Expand your reflection by engaging in reflexive inquiry (refer to your responses from Activity 2.1). As part of your reflexive inquiry, think about these questions posed by Rossman and Rallis (2012): Topic: Teacher Attrition • What assumptions do you make about this topic? • What opinions do you have about this topic? • What preconceptions, prejudices, or biases do you bring to the study of this topic? • What assumptions do you have about those who will participate in your study (e.g., your students or colleagues)? Use your documented reflection to write a brief introductory paragraph on your area of research focus. Write the reflection in first person. Include in the focus the desired outcome and the actions you are considering taking. Write a brief description of your education-al role (teacher, principal, administrator) and your setting (grade level, subject area, etc.). Include relevant information about the reflective process(es) you used to identify the focus, and illustrate the ways these processes reflect your core educational values. Use a heading such as Reflection or Research Focus for this paragraph.
