These discussions have a reading attached to them. In order to answer, you need to see the attachments. Respond to ONE of the following questions: You have read about the effects of binge-watching. What are some things that may cause a person to binge-watch a tv series or multiple shows at one time? Were there weaknesses in Clay's presentation? If so, what type of revision would you suggest? Does Shaw's essay contain a clear cause/effect strategy? If yes, list the causes and then the effects in order of their appearance. If you feel the organization does not clearly convey a cause/effect strategy, what would you change to make it clearer? Be specific. From the assigned cause/effect readings, choose the one you believe to be the WEAKEST in its support of the main topic. Why is it the weakest? What would you do to improve the piece of reading? Be specific with details, placement of those details, additional points you would make, points you would remove, etc. Note: To earn full credit for this graded discussion, post at least two times. I believe that the author did convey decisive cause and effects in her article. The author’s article has to do with the cause and effect that the suburbs has on the wildlife. The author first gives an example on how people are moving into areas where it is usually populated by wild life. By this happening; it will cause an uproar in the wildlife community. With a steady decline in farming, causes a natural reforestation; which helped animals have a territory to live in. The author also explains how suburbs provide a variety of landscape and agriculture that will attract wildlife. People who move into the suburbs sometimes create an environment that will cause the wildlife animals to move into. Environments such as: creating ponds, gardens, planting trees, and making bird boxing units. The author talks about how the suburbs development has a positive impact on the key deer in Florida. The development of the suburbs drew the key deer out of hiding. The development opened up the overgrown forest areas and created more vegetation for the deer's comfort. The suburbs not only did this for the deer population in Florida; it also cause more growth of deer across the nation. The cause of wealth and the ability to move into low-density ares; effects the growth of the suburbs according to the author. The rise of income in the United States causes the people within the country to have the motivation to protect the environment. So in the end the suburbs has a great effect on the wild life within the United States. Respond to the following question: Levin and Solomon both examined the topic of torture. What types of evidence do these writers use to support their theses? Why or why not is the evidence persuasive? Who presented the stronger argument? Why do you believe this to be the case? All posts need to be in your own words. The discussion needs a response. Both of these authors had made excellent arguments on the case of torture. Micheal Levin gave a few good examples on why torture should be allowed when it comes to criminals and terrorists. He gives an example about if a terrorist planted a bomb in Manhattan City. This bomb can kill millions of people if it is detonated. He explains how the police caught the individual who planted the bomb hours before the bomb goes off. The law can either wait for the terrorist's lawyer; or they can start torturing to get a faster response from the terrorist. Basically; the author explains how many world disastrous situations can be prevented if they use the torture method. This method can help in a much faster way instead of waiting until its too late. This authors evidence sounds persuasive by giving us scenarios that could get millions of innocent people killed; and torture can be the way to save lives. Alisa Solomon gives examples on why torturing is not the best option to use. She explains how there is no physical evidence that torture is effective. How people who are being interrogated can lie about information just to make the pain stop. She also explains how people who initiate the torture can end up becoming domestic abusers within their homes. I believe that Alisa Solomon gave a stronger argument than Micheal Levin. Although Micheal Levin gave an example of a possible situation that people would agree with; he still did not have enough evidence. Meanwhile; Solomon gave more examples that would persuade the audience in a better manner.
