Hey, All the instructions are in the uploaded file below. This paper is a theoretical research-paper in which you will explore the following question: Discuss a selected theme (identity, memory, language, spirituality, science). Give an introduction to different points of views of from class readings discussion with minimum 3 selected art work from different artists. State the debate and views from in class discussions and the readings. Complete your research with library sources The topic that I wanna do is The Gaze, we will add the sources we used in class, which can be added to the bibliography but are not included in the 5 external sources (explained in the attached outline) we can discuss the different types of gazes expressed in art and how they are done by the artists. In the main body of the research paper, the main goal is the choose minimum 3 art pieces from 3 different artists and discuss how they relate to the theme of The Gaze. Analyse the artworks based on how the artists expresses the gaze through the visual elements of the art piece. EX. composition, subjects, color, line, texture, scale. etc I attached the 2 class readings below which should be cited exculding the 5 sources about the gaze and the art pieces which will be analysed. we can do the main body artworks in order of time. so the first art piece we talk about is the oldest and the 4th one will be the newest - in the paper we can also add that the gaze is something that has been expressed in art for a very long time (add date) and continues to be done througout the contemporary art period. 1. The first art piece that can be talked about and analysed is 'Las meninas' which Foucault already discusses. another scholarly source can be used to analyse this piece 2. the second 'le déjeuner sur l'herbe', a scholarly source should be added here too about the piece with relation to the gaze 3. Balcony, Boulevard Haussmann. By Gustave Caillebotte. 1880 https://www.artsy.net/artwork/gustave-caillebotte-balcony-boulevard-haussmann https://www.itstartswithadam.com/blog/what-is-the-gaze-in-art 4. the third is Untitled Film Still #21, 1978 by Cindy Sherman SUBVERTING THE MALE GAZE if the word count is not enough we can remove one of the 4 art pieces and that one can be the one you find least information about. Thank you!
