There is 2 parts to this assignment. The fist one which was the introduction and bibliography of the research text has been done which i will upload. This is the assessment criteria for the first one. The 'Controlling Argument' refers to the central idea being critically explored in your text. One hallmark of academic writing is that there is a central (or controlling) idea (or argument) structuring a text. The text develops this idea – that is, in your text there is one clearly formulated central idea (argument/proposition) developed in a logical and critical manner. This idea is introduced at the beginning of the essay (the introduction) and it is concluded at the end (the conclusion). Successful writing is the product of drafting and editing cycles. For this project you are asked to plan ahead and get feedback form Studiosity and incorporate the feedback and comments before you submit the more complete draft. You will need to submit a screen shot of your Studiosity feedback The word 'argument' may make you feel that you have to provide a 'yes or no' response to a 'question'; however, this is not the case. Argument in this context means discussion. Your text may critically explore complex ideas for which there is no right or wrong answer. You may even see merits in different and conflicting perspectives. Nonetheless, you need to work out your position (your point of view or perspective) on a topic and use your text to consider ideas or values that you think are significant. A good researcher is able to evidence an understanding of different perspectives on any site or theme. This assignment is not just an academic exercise. The ability to develop an argument that is based on evidence and critical thinking is an important skill for a designer. Critical thinking is a skill you will likely use regularly – for instance, when presenting design concepts to a client or describing to a lead designer how you arrived at a particular design position. Don't forget that research texts written by designers should include site/visual analysis. You must discuss your site as a design precedent. Use your design intelligence to explore the precedent in order to develop your position. The text you develop for this submission should be worked into your end-of-semester text submission. In fact, the aim for this submission is that you are able to test the argument that you will use to structure your final text. To provide important context for your writing, please include visual media (photographs, drawings, plans, etc) of your precedent. The text and image relationship in design writing is crucial, so consider it carefully. It's a great idea to refer to specific images in your writing. Remember to properly footnote any quotations and caption any visual material. Since i failed this first assignment please change the intro BUT KEEP THE BIBLIOGRAPHY THE SAME PLEASE. Now this is the criteria for the second assignment which needs to be done. Write a Research Text of 2000-words that critically explores your historical precedent. Notes The final essay must be 2000-words (not including footnotes and bibliography). You might write one 2000-word essay or you might decide to write a series of shorter responses that together make 2000-words. Your essay must be accompanied by referenced and captioned images of your precedent. Your essay should include visual/site analysis as part of your discussion. Your assignment must include either in-line refs or footnotes or endnotes and a bibliography. Your bibliography must have at least ten scholarly sources. You can include sources of any media (texts, precedents, podcasts, documentaries, and so forth), however at least four must be text-based. Your references should be scholarly. They should be created by credible authors or institutions. For this reason, sources such as Wikipedia and Design blogs are not encouraged.
