How will you rate other group members? Please justify your rating Others: How did the moderator break the ice/ control the students/ discussion-- were they effective? • Moderator: What will you do differently next time Example the moderator report : I was the moderator of the group who basically handled and monitored the discussion. The active participation of Aishwarya and Praanjal made the conversation quite exciting and information as I got to learn about the way people think about the community and food including the family too. The best part of the conversation was there were no limited answers given and everything was nicely expanded by both of them which surprised me as active participation is not what is always expected of the participants. To elaborate more on my role involved then, I was supposed to keep the conversation going on in an interesting and energetic way so that they do not feel discouraged at any point while answering or sharing their ideas. Often I had to let one speak for more time as the respondent felt short of words to which I had to elaborate and encourage in between to let him/her speak more in a frank admission. Although I handled the initial conversation, the part Jeethu played as a recorder was also consequential as she was the one to record everything and maintain the transcripts of every word that was being spoken along with keeping in view that no technical error happens during the process. Last but not the least, Bayan’s contribution cannot be ignored where she supported me as an assistant moderator and she also asked a few questions in the middle to keep the conversation intriguing and maintained. To explain the overall experience, I really found the activity refreshing and was engrossing or captivating where different experiences were shared along with the suggestions where ever needed and the perfect support was given by the listeners or participants during the talks which made it appealing in every manner. I also felt the differences in tone and accent of the speaker actually made it a little harder for the participants to understand but not always. Thus, the questions were nicely rephrased if one did not understand a point or accent.
