So an individual who is "whistle-blowing" can be defined as a person who is revealing classified information about a company or organization without proper consent. The classified information majority of the time may be regarding practices that are wrongful and show great signs of misconduct within the organization. The person or persons who are doing the whistle-blowing may feel it is necessary to out this information publicly since the information may be important for consumers to become of aware of. This activity can be related to an employee, public official, and public and/or private organizations who communicate this information to a large group of individuals as intel explaining activities that have transpired within the organization such as fraud/abuse, corruption, profit seeking, discrimination etc. (Kleinig, 2019). Pros of whistle-blowing can include, knowing that you are doing the right thing by exposing fraudulent activity, and the reward of knowing you are helping others. In some instances the whistle blower may be the reason why the government or other organizations who victims of this misconduct are able to recoup any money that they lost. Some other good pros is that there is protection from retaliation by an employer available under the False Claims Act. As well ensuring that the individuals responsible for the misconduct aren't consistently being rewarded all while breaking the law. This can actually result in the whistleblower being rewarded for acting on their good will and bravery to expose any wrong doing (Bothwell, 2017). Cons of whistle blowing can include the loss of a job and having your own earnings sacrificed, though individuals should be protected from retaliation, there could be instances where a whistle blower could be laid off or may have difficulty finding another employer within that field. Relationships may suffer as well, majority of the time whistle blowers are alone when they bring up allegations as severe as this against a large corporation, most people wouldn't want to get in the way of that. Another con is that the information the whistle blower is giving may not be accurate or it can be "proven" not to be accurate by the corporation which can result in lawsuits against the whistle blower.
